Led by that wild man of the accordion, Slim, the name of the band is a bad pun on the word Zydeco (the Black Accordion music of South West Louisiana).However, this name was thought of several years before the band was formed and rather than force the band down any particular avenues of music, Slim decided to let the band develop naturally, the result of which is more "ROCKIN' SWAMP COUNTRY SWING" than Zydeco. The band have done a wide variety of gigs including supporting the Neville brothers, and the Texas Tornadoes at London's Town & Country Club (now the Forum).
Former Boothill Foot-Tapper and Blubbery Hell-Belly, Slim has played for and with many bands including Howlin' Wilf, the Forest Hill-Billies, Roddy Radiation & the Tearjerkers, Wilko Johnson, Johnny Allen and Le Rue as well as playing in both Texas and Europe with Texans, Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Robert Earl Keen, Rosie Flores and Jesse Taylor. He has also done session work for Primal Scream, Billy Bragg, and the RockinBirds amongst others.
Previously working with Ska band The Selecter, Paul was also with prototype New Country Band, Cut Loose.
Previously with Le Rue , and Cajun band the Hackney Ramblers, he also regularly performs, along with Boz and Lynne Boorer in Sonny George's Band, including a recent storming performance at Viva Las Vegas. Jeff brings some exciting sounds to the band with his deep twangy 6-string bass and wild steel guitar. Has in the past played with cult bands the Cannibals, Stingrays and Johnny Legend.
If Paul or Jeff aren't available,Andy is the man we call. Although best known for his blues/R&B playing with Howling Wilf and Shout Sister Shout, he shows he can fire off some really hot country licks as well. (He's a great plumber as well!)
Patrick, the quiet man at the back, with the penchant for cool cars. The only one in the band with any Irish blood, he was hit on the head by a 6 ft. polystyrene shamrock which fell from the ceiling of the Steeles pub on St. Patrick's night.
Probably the best Rock'n'Roll drummer in town. Another veteran of the Howling Wilf, or as he's now known, James Hunter, Band. Mike recently played with JimmyPage and Robert Plant on a Sun Records Tribute album.
One of the classiest fiddle players around, with a wonderfully fluid style, Jim has played with amongst others, Dr. Hook and Flaco Jimenez. Can also be seen with the Hackney Ramblers.
